A Little Tips for Reorganizing Child Bedding Crib Sets as Your Newborn Grows Older

In: Home

You should follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidance on keeping crib bedding to a minimum for the baby’s first year, until the child can move enough to keep bedding out of his or her face. Parents should realize that until a baby is a year old, safety precautions should still be used when modifying the crib area. Once babies are able to sit upright–and certainly by the time they can pull up to standing–the mattress height should be lowered and any items which can be used as steps should be removed. Crib cushions especially provide an easy grip and hence they should be removed so as to prevent kids form mounting on the crib railings.

Comfortable and decorative bedding items can be put in a child’s crib after age 1 when the risk of SIDS drops. Comforters and a matching bed skirt can be used to complement the nursery decor. Fuzzy blankets provide warmth and are wonderful for snuggling and can be found in child appropriate sizes. The majority of toddlers like to have stuffed toys to help them get to sleep, and pillows are also good choices for children at least 18 months old.
